Job Description

Thales is seeking a Senior Technical Officer to provide specialist system support to Field Service Technicians in maintenance operations. This role involves supporting complex fault diagnoses on Customer sites and RAN Platforms (Ships, Submarines, and Land-Based Environments) to ensure smooth equipment operation. Key responsibilities include aiding engineers in developing new solutions, preparing installation and test documentation, developing training solutions, leading maintenance activities safely, and substituting for maintenance supervisors when needed. The role also requires willingness to deploy nationally and internationally for defect rectification.   • Certificate or training in Information Technology (networking)
  • Previous experience in Defence or Defence Industry environment
Must Have:
  • Diploma in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years relevant industry experience
  • Experience in fault finding, analysis, and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Australian Citizen eligible for NV1 Defence Security Clearance

About Your Role: Senior Technical Officer

This role provides specialist system support to the Field Service Technicians in maintenance. You will support complex fault diagnoses when performing maintenance and repair operations at Customer sites and RAN Platforms (Ships, Submarines and Land-Based Environments), ensuring that the equipment runs smoothly.

Permanent opportunity and based on-site at Rockingham, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aiding engineers and technical staff in the development and integration of new solutions and preparation of installation and test documentation.
  • Developing training solutions and providing training sessions for the Field Service teams.
  • Lead short maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner ensuring all pre-requisite and follow up actions are completed.
  • Substitute the role of a maintenance supervisor during resource shortages or absences.
  • Willingness to deploy nationally and internationally for short periods to support defect rectification

Essential skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Electronic Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years relevant industry experience
  • Certificate or training in Information Technology (networking) is desirable
  • Experience in fault finding including analysis and documentation of process and results.
  • Previous experience working within a Defence or Defence Industry environment is desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Office
  • Ability to work autonomously and part of a team
  • Must be Australian Citizen and eligible for NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
